The steep banks of the longest river in Germany are home to some of the region’s most tranquil beauty and picturesque towns.
On a coach holiday to the region you can experience a different town of this region each day and see the many fairytale castles and vineyards that cling to the banks of the Rhine from a fabulous cruise. One of the main attractions of a serene cruise down the Rhine is without doubt Lorelei Rock, where, according to legend, a beautiful blonde maiden lured sailors to their death with her siren songs.
A region that has captured the heart of writers and artists for hundreds of years, drawing people from all over Europe the Rhine Valley is just as mesmerising as it was three hundred years ago. Whist the world has changed around it, this idyllic stretch of water, woodland and stone has kept its traditional tone and atmosphere.
We take a cable car up to the fortress of Ehrenbreitstein, which is a mouthful at the best of times but even harder to say once the views from the top take your breath away. Home to a great collection of exhibitions, the castle is treasure trove of German and European culture, from archaeological digs to wine producing, there’s a lot more to this castle than stones and mortar.
A magnificent castle that contains a handful of mysterious and spooky tales, the trip to this stone fortress may be more suited for Halloween if it weren’t for the beauty of the architecture and the awe inspiring views that spread out against the sky just beyond the castle walls.
Ideally located in the traditional town of Kamp Bornhofen, enjoy the spectacular scenery and stunning sights of the picturesque Rhine Valley.
