Billed as the leading international gathering for air forces from around the globe, The Royal International Air Tattoo is the world’s most prestigious airshow held at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, attracting over 150,000 every year.
So esteemed is the event that it has gained a reputation for attracting many of the world’s elite display teams, who travel thousands of miles to perform solely at the Tattoo.
As a result, it provides the exclusive and rare opportunity for UK aviation enthusiasts to see some of the most powerful jet engines on these shores.
During the 7 ½ hour spectacle you will be treated to exhilarating flying displays from a range of supersonic jets, helicopters, vintage aircraft, aerobatic display teams, each demonstrating their speed, agility and breath-taking manoeuvrability.
Enjoy heart stopping gravity defying stunts, high-speed manoeuvres and marvel at the close formations.
Already confirmed for 2017 is the legendary white aircraft of the US Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team, who will cross the Atlantic to perform at the Tattoo as part of their 70th Anniversary celebrations.
In addition to the rare performance from the Thunderbirds, there is a range of historic American aircraft to discover and a chance to learn more about the important role of the US Air Force in world politics.
Crowd-pleasers, the Red Arrows, are always a star attraction and will display their full sequence of perfectly choreographed routines as well as the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the Eurofighter Typhoon.
In addition to thrilling action in the skies, you can also explore the extensive range of static aircraft on the ground. Get up close to the aircraft, pose for photographs with aircrew from around the world and even sit in a pilot’s seat!
There’s plenty of fun in the four themed areas too. Capture the wartime spirit in the Vintage Village, featuring live music and re-enactments, see cutting edge technology in the Techo Zone, take in rare and beautifully restored classic cars at the Autodrome and let the little ones burn off energy in the Adrenalin Zone.
