Coach holidays to Whitby
A great time is guaranteed on a coach holiday to the bustling North Yorkshire harbour town of Whitby.
Divided by the River Esk, Whitby’s skyline is dominated by the famous Abbey ruins on East Cliff which overlooks the town and North Sea coastline. Meanwhile, a climb up the 199 steps adjacent to the abbey will lead you up to the parish church of St. Mary, whose churchyard gave Bram Stoker the inspiration for his world famous book, Dracula.
Back on ground level you can wander around the maze of narrow alleyways and cobbled streets which comprise of many tearooms and shops selling the famous Whitby jet stone as well as traditional seaside gifts and souvenirs. Whitby is still very much a seafarer’s town, and on the quayside you can relive the town’s maritime history at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, have a flutter on the amusement arcades or enjoy fresh fish and chips in one of the town’s famous restaurants.
