Coach holidays to Salzburg
Located on the banks of the Salzach River, Salzburg is a truly magnificent city set against the backdrop of pristine mountains, beautiful lakes and winding rivers.
Known as the birthplace of the 18th century composer Mozart and made famous more recently by the popular musical The Sound of Music, Salzburg provides some of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in Europe, none more so than the imposing cathedral in the heart of the city. You can take in the magnificent architecture perhaps best of all from the high vantage point of Kapuzinerberg Mountain or the eleventh century fortress of Hohensalzburg which towers above the city. Alternatively why not enjoy views of the old town on a relaxing boat cruise?
Two of the city’s most popular attractions are Mozart’s Geburtshaus, the very birthplace and childhood home of the 18th century musical genius, and the Mirabell Palace, where you can walk through the stunning gardens where the von Trapp children sang "Do-Re-Mi". If time’s still on your side the Hellbrunn Palace and Salzburg Zoo are also worth a visit as are the Museum of Modern Art, the Baroque Museum and the Toy Museum.
On a walk around the city you’ll notice that the music of Mozart is very much celebrated everywhere you go, from the city’s quaint shops which line the narrow streets, to the many bars and restaurants.
On a coach break to the region you can soak up everything that this great city has to offer.
