Coach holidays to Oban
Oban has grown from a small quaint fishing village to a bustling harbour town and one of Scotland’s most visited coastal resorts.
The town itself lies in the basin of a crescent overlooked by its most famous landmark McCaig's Tower, a Colosseum-like folly built around 1900 as a monument to the McCaig family. You can venture up to the tower on a gentle stroll and take in the scenery from its hillside position. It is a great place to enjoy a relaxing picnic and from which to take fantastic panoramic photographs of the bay looking out to sea.
The town also offers plenty of popular visitor attractions, including the famous Oban whisky distillery, two cathedrals (St John's Episcopal Cathedral and St Columba's Roman Catholic Cathedral), and the excellent Oban War & Peace Museum. On the harbour you can watch the fleet of fishing boats plying their trade or take a boat trip out to sea to enjoy breath-taking views of the bay, right along the coast to the ruined keep of Dunollie Castle.
The harbour is also a great place from which to take a short ferry trip from the town’s south pier to discover the delights of Mull, Coll and Islay.
